By attending this comprehensive one-day course, you will gain the knowledge and skills to significantly reduce the accident potential associated with these useful, yet potentially dangerous, machines. The course covers a wide range of equipment, including vehicle-mounted aerial lifts, manually propelled aerial lifts, boom-supported aerial lifts, and scissor lifts. Key topics include understanding the different types of aerial lifts, their components, and terminology, as well as the causes and results of aerial lift accidents. The program emphasizes the critical role of pre-use inspections in reducing accidents and provides detailed training on OSHA and ANSI pre-use inspection requirements. Participants will learn how to properly conduct inspections, recognize deficiencies and safety hazards, and document pre-use inspections accurately. The course also covers inspecting structural components, operating mechanisms, hydraulic and electrical systems, and safety devices. Additional training includes safe aerial lift setup, identifying site hazards, understanding operator responsibilities, and adhering to safe operating practices. Special focus is given to working near power lines and electrical hazards, ensuring operators are fully prepared for a variety of challenging situations.
